Top Tips for Keeping Cool this Summer

It’s not officially summer yet, but the heat waves are on their way! With the sunny skies comes the risk of overheating. We’ve rounded up our top tips for staying cool this summer.
Drink plenty of water. This might be a no-brainer, but it’s huge! Stay hydrated with a regular intake of water. Try adding lemon and lime slices, or fresh mint to a jug of water in the fridge to add some flavour.
Cut down on alcohol. Water is the best liquid to drink during hot weather, as alcohol can dehydrate you more.
Eat frozen snacks. Eat a frozen banana or frozen blueberries for a snack – or blend it up and make it a smoothie!
Stay out of the sun. Find shade outside whenever possible, and stay indoors when you can.
Look out for your neighbours. Keep an eye on your neighbours, especially the elderly, to make sure they’re okay. Remember, children and those with health concerns may find it more difficult to cope with the heat.
Don’t leave children unattended in parked cars. The results of leaving your children or pets in parked cars during the summer can have catastrophic results.
Keep your house cool. Use you Briza to keep your home cool and maintain proper humidity levels. To get an extra chill, add ice water to the tank to make it extra cold!
Practice being sunsmart. If you’re heading outdoors, remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, and Wrap!

  • Slip on a shirt with long sleeves and a collar.
  • Slip into the shade.
  • Slop on sunscreen that is at least SPF 30, broad spectrum and water resisitant, and reapply every two hours.
  • Slap on a wide-brimmed hat.
  • Wrap on close-fitting sunglasses.
Keep your children cool. Equip them with a water bottle, appropriate clothing, sunblock, and a hat.
